Health Records Administrator


The North East Regional Health Authority, a statutory body under the Ministry of Health with responsibility for the management and delivery of health care and public health services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland, is seeking qualified individual to fill the position of Health Records Administrator (HPC/HR 2) at the St. Mary Health Department.

Reporting to the Parish Manager, the incumbent has responsibility for ensuring that minimum standards for health records management and patient information system are maintained and that optimum patient care is achieved.

Qualifications

  • Associate/Degree of Science in Health Information Technology.
  • Supervisory Management Certificate (a plus).
  • At least five (5) years experience in Health Records, two (2) of which should be at supervisory level.

 

Specific Requirements

  • Knowledge of Health Information Systems & Management- including the Patient Administration System (PAS).
  • Knowledge of the methods, procedures, practices, rules and regulations related to health data collection.
  • Ability to analyze statistical reports and makes recommendation.
  • Skills in human resource management  Good interpersonal skills

 

Responsibilities

  • Formulate activity programmes to meet objectives within specific timeframes, monitor these programmes and measure achievements.
  • Edit and submit all the Monthly Clinical Summary Report (MCSR) to the Regional Health Authority  and the Ministry of Health (MOH).
  • Establish and monitor measures to protect the security/confidentiality of the patients' health record.
  • Establish methods of control to ensure the existence of a health record for each patient 
  • Provide technical guidance for health records activities within the parish. 
  • Provide the necessary supervision, leadership and direction for health records staff, heart trainees and other allied health personnel who perform health records duties to ensure competent and effective provision of these services in support of patient care in the parish 
  • Prepare departmental budget.
  • Attending staff conferences/workshops as required
